About the event
Volunteer during one of our Micro Shelter Builds at The Baltimore ToolBank. National Women Build Week has come and gone but we need to keep up the momentum! All volunteers of all types and walks of life are invited to participate!
Build details::
Free, unrestricted parking is available on the 1200 block of Wicomico Street, directly in front of ToolBank entrance. Be mindful not to parking in loading dock driveways. Event registration begins at 10am with a safety overview at 10:30am. All volunteers must be present for safety overview.
If possible, I'd suggest bringing these items if possible:
Safety equipment- hammer, knee pads, glasses or goggles , gloves and a water bottle
(optional) Ear plugs (usually needed for operating loud equipment), tool belt, paint brush or roller, pencil
We have these things available but do not guarantee the best fit. Comfortable, well fitting layered clothing is suggested. The weather is unpredictable so please wear layers. Clothes should fit well to allow ease of movement yet not be baggy. Baggy clothes can get caught in machinery, although we probably won't be using any for this build project. Your clothes will get dirty- maybe beyond repair, so wear clothes that can be ruined, if you can. Comfortable closed toe shoes or boots. For the most part, we will be on our feet most of the day so please make sure you have comfortable shoes. We will have water available in jugs near our work area, but we don’t want to use plastic cups.
Shoot us an email if you have any questions!
