About the event
Fight Blight #Bmore is hosting a Community development Hack-A-Thon to engage community in examining blight and proposing solutions dubbed Displac-ia II: Vacants in the Village. The event is a follow up to FBB’s first Dis-placia event (hosted during Free Fall #Baltimore 2018) an interactive transmedia art exhibition that uses art and technology to examine and explain the impact on people when the built environment is in poor or ineffective condition. The exhibition will include the works of local artist who have lived experience with blight. Infographic posters will be paired with artist works to illustrate how available data supports their expressions. Dis-placia II will build on the first event to include panels, workshops and a contest for community to pitch their blight remediation or other community development ideas to funders. This event will occur April 5-7, 2019 at the Druid Hill YMCA.
As a part of the hack-a-thon Smalltimore Homes will participate in the panel discussion on Friday the 5th @ 7pm. The panel will focus on understanding blight and urban #colonialism aka #gentrification.
