Veteran's Day Micro-Shelter Demonstration
Veteran's Day Micro-Shelter Demonstration. Wednesday November 11th at the St. John's Lutheran Church of Sweet Air.
Time & Location
Nov 11, 2020, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
About the event
From 7 pm Saturday, November 14th - 7 am Sunday November 15th
The difference between rough sleeping and homelessness is that it is possible to be homeless, but not be rough sleeping. For example, someone can be homeless if they are staying in temporary accommodation, but they are not rough sleeping as they do have a proper roof over their head at night -
Rough sleeping campaign shelter suit
We will have a 12-hour Lockout Tent village night on our campus to raise awareness on
homelessness. All ages are invited to register for this event as family or as individuals. If you
don’t have a tent, we will be collecting boxes for use as shelter. Even for only 12 hours, it is a
powerful way to generate understanding of the challenges for those experiencing
homelessness. A subzero thermal suit will also be on display and is a great gift to purchase
for someone experiencing homelessness.
